Things to Do With Kids in Harrogate

Gardens & Parks
The Royal Horticultural Society's Yorkshire garden on the western edge of town: 58 acres of planting, woodland and streamside.

Harlow Carr is the RHS's northern flagship garden and the single easiest half-day out in Harrogate.
The garden runs downhill from the entrance through ornamental borders to a streamside walk, woodland and a kitchen garden, so it changes character considerably as you move through it. Planting is chosen to work in a cold, wet Yorkshire climate, which makes it genuinely useful for gardeners as well as pleasant for everyone else.
It is at its most striking in late spring and early summer, but the winter walk and autumn colour give it a longer season than most gardens. Allow two to three hours, wear something sensible on your feet, and check the RHS site for current admission and opening.
