Baltzersen's

Scandinavian-influenced café on Oxford Street, known for its coffee, baking and long, unhurried breakfasts.

Baltzersen's brought a Nordic accent to Harrogate breakfast: cardamom buns, waffles, open sandwiches and coffee taken seriously.

The room is bright and pared back, with communal tables and a counter of pastries that tends to decide your order for you. It works equally well for a fast flat white and for the kind of long weekend breakfast that quietly turns into lunch.

It has become one of the town's reference points for independent café culture, and it is close enough to the centre to build a morning around. Weekends get busy; tables turn quickly.
